“Everyday I walk in CrossFit Intensify I’m filled with love and support”

I’m given strength when I think I don’t have any left to give. I’ve not been at CFI long, but it has been long enough for me to see the love. I’ve cried and someone was there to hug me. I’ve laughed and someone is always laughing with me. I’ve had workouts that kicked my butt, and I was never alone. I’m so happy I took the step through the door. Thank you. I can’t wait to get to know the CFI family more!”

All 5’1" and 248 pounds of me came to Intensify on Mohawk, following my wife who had tried crossfit and loved it.

I wanted to sleep better, be able to play with our sons and figure out how to eat better. I did not think crossfit would be for me and that day I had agreed to try it once. I was so worried I’d be the slowest and the fattest in the gym. A year and 65 pounds later I’ve found peace with a lifelong struggle with food while working with the onsite nutritionist. I can outlast our 1.5 and 3 year olds. I have changed the way my body moves in the world and I will find out soon from my doctor if I can transition away from using a CPAP at night for weight related sleep apnea. I did this with the support of the coaches at Crossfit Intensify, especially Ken, Zach, Andrew, Harold, and Jasmine. And I am still the lady holding up the back of the running pack in class but I’m proud to be there.

I’ve been coming to Intensify since October 2015. My goal has been to get my diabetes under control and get off meds.

November 25th 2015 my A1C was 7.1 and today February 25th 2016 my A1C is 6.7. Normal non-diabetic A1C is 5.9. My goal is also to get off my meds by summer. I am already off half my meds and I WILL be off all my meds by summer. I could not have done this without all the encouragement from everyone at Intensify. I am so glad I met them and thank the Lord that I’m here with such a great group of people. Zach, Andrew, Ken, Ben, you guys are the best. Can’t wait to post when I’m totally med free, CrossFit really really does work.”

Update: Shortly after submitting this testimonial, in March 2016, Neal went off his diabetes medications completely. His blood-work is quickly improving and his diabetes is more manageable every day!

CrossFit has made a huge impact on my life in many ways.

One of the biggest things for me is the way I feel and my self-confidence. Exercising on a regular basis has really helped me feel great. I do not get frequent headaches anymore, I sleep like a baby, and I feel more energetic and alert during the day. I have also noticed that when you’re working so hard at an exercise program such as CrossFit it really makes you pay attention to what you are feeding your body. Therefore, I am eating way better. And it seems the better you eat and sleep, the better your performance at CrossFit. The better your performance and constant improvement, the more self-confidence you gain. It seems to be a pleasant pattern. I truly believe that CrossFit and diet is a “cure-all.” There are so many great things about CrossFit! I could keep going, but I will end by saying I for sure look better in my clothes (not to mention nakedly), and who doesn’t want that?????”

CrossFit Intensify has added many positive things to my life.

Increased strength and weight loss are only obvious aspects. Group workout sessions with fellow CrossFitters and the personal attention from Zach and Andrew are big motivators to continue. The way CrossFit is able to scale WOD’s to any ability almost guarantees success. CrossFit Intensify also offers as part of their program nutritional information and detailed online fitness tracking. Both have been very helpful in my continued success. I would highly recommend CrossFit Intensify!”

I am thankful that I have joined CrossFit.

I do lack a fondness of burpees, but I am happy to report that when I went to Seal Beach to go surfing I was able to pop up quickly. I asked my surf instructor what is the best gym exercise I could do to help me surf. He said burpees. Karma…

Exercise is what I’ve always done to keep my life in balance.

On March 11, 2009, I suffered a personal tragedy. It was by far the saddest day of my life. For the next 18 months, I couldn’t bring myself to care about exercise or a healthy diet. I watched my weight increase and my fitness level rapidly decrease.

During this time a friend of mine, handed me a business card to a new gym, CrossFit Intensify. She mentioned the great results she was having and said I would love it and should give it a try….I promptly filed the card away, I wasn’t ready yet. I did however become “Friends” on Facebook with CrossFit Intensify and was able to track what the program was all about and the accomplishments some of the members were having. I was definitely intrigued. Eventually, I wrote Zach an email asking if he thought I could do this, after all, as I explained to him, I was 50, incredibly out of shape, and pretty embarrassed about it. He told me to come and check it out…I made an introductory appointment and the rest is, as they say, history!

Thanks to Andrew, Zach, Krysta, and the support of other members during my workouts the past few weeks, my fitness level has increased dramatically and the extra weight I gained is finally coming off, but most importantly I feel like I have begun to get my mojo back. The workouts are motivating, challenging, compact, and change on a daily basis. That’s not to say that I haven’t had plenty of “you want me to do what?” reactions to the WOD listed on the board. But usually, those reactions get a response from Andrew of “you’ve got this Carrie.” Yep, with every workout I complete I feel like I “got this” just a little more!”

CrossFit Intensify’s staff is the best, offering encouragement towards better fitness that is balanced with my abilities and age.

I love the friendly atmosphere that welcomes people of all sizes, shapes, and fitness levels. The group workout sessions are far more fun and effective than working out alone in a big box gym. Crossfit is great therapy after a hard day at work. And a good workout makes it easier to sleep, which is much more healthy than taking medication!”

CFI has been so awesome and it’s completely changed the way I look at “exercising.”

My running times and form have improved, my lifestyle is healthier and I’m starting to accept the way my body is built, and I love that. Andrew and Zach are awesome! Keep it up, guys!”
