Meet the intensify coaches

Andrew

Crippen

Owner + Head Coach

I began my coaching career in football following success in high school athletics, but have truly found my passion for coaching through CrossFit. After finding CrossFit to help improve my own personal fitness I knew that I wanted to share my life-changing experience with as many people as possible. In 2010 I helped found CrossFit Intensify in a garage. Since then our business has grown into Intensify Strength and Fitness and I’ve had the pleasure of coaching hundreds of people in CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting and helped them achieve new personal heights.

Head Coach

I found CrossFit in December of 2012 and joined CFI that following summer. Initially, CrossFit filled a void that was left after concluding my time as a high school athlete. I loved the daily challenge and the idea of constantly having something to work on. I have been doing CrossFit for almost 7 years now. I have experience in competitive level training as well as two years of focused and competitive training in the sport of Olympic Weightlifting.

I have a Bachelors of Science in Human Physiology from the University of Oregon and spent 6 terms teaching and assisting in the human cadaver lab. Coaching and teaching has always been a passion of mine, so coaching CrossFit came as a natural progression to my curiosity and desire to learn and pass that knowledge onto others. Another motivating factor that pushes me in my coaching is the ongoing problem of sickness in our country with regards to chronic disease and unhealthy lifestyle. Coaching is my way of contributing to my community in hopes of improving it one squat at a time.

As a part of the Intensify coaching staff, I hope to continue to bring value to everyone I work with! Outside of the gym you will likely find me spending time with those closest to me, cheering on my favorite sports teams, and maybe mixing a cocktail or two in the process.

I look forward to working with each and every one of you as you start your journey towards health and fitness!

I would consider myself a life-long athlete. Mostly through playing soccer from the age of 3, and continuing into a collegiate career. I started training at Intensify and immediately fell in love with Crossfit and its community. After training at Intensify as an athlete for two years, I wanted to become a more involved member of the community. Becoming a coach and having the opportunity to share my love for fitness and healthy lifestyle is something that I truly enjoy.

When I’m not at the gym, I’m usually off doing something active. I still love playing soccer, as well as running, biking and swimming. When I’m not being physically active, I enjoy reading and movie nights.

Edgerton

Coach

Coach Matt grew up playing hockey in Ontario and Minnesota. His 25+ year hockey career closely came to an end as his passion and love for CrossFit grew. Matt started CrossFitting at CFI in October of 2012 and joined the coaching staff in January of 2017. His favorite part of being a trainer is watching athletes grow in confidence and perform a movement that was once considered impossible, and of course the high fives at the end of WOD’s!!

My journey with CrossFit started in 2019 when I moved to Eugene from Utah. I was 2 months postpartum with my first son and was going stir crazy! So I googled the closest gym to me and found Intensify. I didn’t grow up being active, so this was a whole new world to me. But after just one day I knew I had found something special and have been coming ever since! My love for CrossFit and its values came so naturally. It aligned with everything I wanted for myself, and the way I wanted to raise my family. It gave me confidence, strength, new skills, lasting friendships, and sooo much more. Walking through the doors of Intensify literally changed my life in so many ways!

In 2021 I decided to get my L1 and pursue coaching. It’s one of the best decisions I have ever made! I LOVE what I do and am so happy and grateful that I get to help others find joy in fitness and a healthy lifestyle.

Simmons

Coach

My love for living an active lifestyle began early in my life as a young athlete, playing soccer and competing in track as a 4 year varsity sprinter. I have a great love for the sport of track and field, and still enjoy running.

My role as a coach started 20 years ago, coaching all 4 of my children in soccer, basketball and track. Over the years of coaching and cheering on my kids, I’ve embraced the sports mom role and love it! Stepping away from coaching to focus on my family business, I realized just how much I loved and missed coaching.

This lead me to renew my love for coaching with the phenomenal coaches and athletes and Intensify and I could not be more excited to share my love! I value the connection with the members as much as providing positive coaching. The phrase “Progression not Perfection” is something I believe in and try to instill in every athlete I work with.
